Thanks, I see now curls around for the wide frame tubes on the r1z , but they wouldn't need to do that for the 2xt 3xc ?

The r1z is the 3xc a different angle of it shows the engine still sticks out width wise over the rad.

Apologies all the penny has dropped, yes you are correct it's because they have a flat bottom compared to 2ma and the outlet is tucked in further so it can face outwards thanks for pics. I think I have got a 3ma eBay rad I'll see if it will fit if not I'll pass it on.

i would venture to say if somebody made a mistake, as i did, and ordered the wrong radiator, the r1z lower house would make it a lot easier fit the r1z radiator on the tzr if you needed to. that and an adapter bracket for the lower left radiator mount would be all that it would take to make work, i think.

Fitted nice condition 3ma rad, went on motorway to test, ambient temp 26 degrees temp gauge about 6mm of white before going into the red. It didn't climb higher than that. EGT were reading between 400 and 500 degrees. Checked plugs when I got home and were a light tan colour. It's on 230 mains with bosson chambers I was thinking of going up to 240 to cool it down a bit ?. So after all that time and effort it's running hotter doesn't make sense . Went out again in the evening ambient 22 degrees it ran slightly cooler about 8mm away from red and half way readings when poodling back at 30 mph. I think I will put original rad back on and retest. The 3ma rad does look nice though also running out of time before ULEZ kicks in so I need to get all sorted before refurb the whole bike.

The plugs don't look to bad but it does look like it might be just a touch towards the leaner side of things. Bump the main up one more size richer and see what it does.

The only way the rad could be at fault is if maybe it wasn't circulating the coolant fast enough due to the increased volume. But I don't believe that it isn't, the water pump should be able handle it.

The header tank level hasn't moved from full so I took rad cap off to check level and was at the top, put temp meter in and fired it up the level disappeared added another quarter litre, level stable ran it up until stat opened temp stayed at midway. I don't know why the rad didn't pull in the extra amount from the header tank ? It needs another test now so hopefully it was just coolant level too low. I checked plugs after last nights run and they were a coffee colour but it seems to run quite oily on tick over to the point of fouling both plugs.

might be as simple as a bad radiator cap.

Went on another test this eve and I wasn't expecting such a change the temp now sits just above the cold line, when I got home rad gave a reading of 53 degrees with laser gun. I do have a digital temp gauge but not fitted yet,so the 3ma rad is a good mod and got a length of silicone hose which seems to curve quite well although I still find it odd that header tank didn't want to supply the missing coolant maybe an airlock ? Rad cap looks ok. I'm over the moon with the performance and acceleration, gear change and r1z ratios are spot on for the grin factor.

Bit of a boring update but swapped 13 front sprocket to a 14 ( standard) and went for my last road test yesterday. It seems to calm the engine down too much as moves towards more top end speed so I think I prefer the 13. I did read somewhere about not a good idea about having a smaller front sprocket chain turning too tight an angle or something like that. I did buy a chain sprocket kit for the rebuild but I might get another rear sprocket with two teeth more. I'm going to miss riding this as only got to do 130 miles after engine build.

thats true. maybe go up 2 on the rear.

Seeing as those 3.5 inch 125 rear wheels don't come up very often I thought I would try another make so went for Suzuki 3 spoke gs500 rim. It was £33 with sprocket hub, spindle, disc and spacers 2007 model. The disc is too large so researched size and found tzr 80 rr fits and can use 2ma calliper and bracket the disc was £16 new. New koyo bearings £20 and new sprocket£22 . I had to turn off 8mm off sprocket hub and 7mm off sprocket hub surface to get chain alignment correct spin up some spacers for 2ma 15mm spindle and a 15 mm i/d 17 mm  o/d sleeve for the bearings as I could not get internal and external bearings to match spindle and wheel. I'm not sure whether to go for 130/80  or 140/70 tyre I've always had bt45's but there is more choice with the larger rim.

Good work. Do you think you will feel much difference with the wider rim or are you just interested in the better tyre choice?

Great bit of work there, you don't happen to have a link for the disc do you? I've the same wheel coming and it's going in my Ypvs 350 N1, i've currently got a 3.5" Belgarda wheel in there, but doesn't match the front which is Rgv250. Thanks, Andy.

A bit of both really, when someone posted a picture of that blue and white paint scheme the wider rim transformed the look of the bike plus now I can't figure out which tyre to go for as a lot of choice. Don't laugh but I never figured out how to put links to an item the younger guys tried to show me where I used to work but burst out in hysterics when I said paste and copy ! I had to slightly dress the bolt holes on that tzr disc where they didn't quite line up it could be not machined quite right it wasn't Chinese but EU made, a direct fit is the rg fun/ rgv but is more expensive. I also had to trim down the sprocket bolts and cut the threads further down m10x 1.25 die. You also lose the outer seal on the sprocket hub if you take off 8mm but the new bearings have seals in them. I don't know what rear spindle size is on a 350 or how wide swing arm is as I couldn't match bearings to 15mm spindle and wheel so made a thin wall tube to fit spindle to wheel bearings. I have refitted original wheel as seen post by south coast Rick as to try and get emissions tested for ulez as an ex car mot tester I didn't think in my wildest dreams these stinkers would ever get through a test so I might try and get it up to Stevenage to see what happens.
