Hi gents. Have mikunis pulled and thoroughly ceaned. Fuel tank was contaminated with rust. I'm after some help as to how to sync carbs. At WOT the right carb is obstructing the Venturi by 3 - 5 mm?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi guys

As you can see at wide open throttle on one carb only the slide is still shoes approx 4-5mm?

Another issue is this crack in the casing. There.has been an attempted repair from the previous owner. Could this cause the sync issue?

When syncing carbs you first adjust the slide height. So the carbs sit slightly above the carb body. This is a small adjustment like half a millimeter .5

My rgv manual talks about using a small pin / needle / wire of that thickness. Placed between the slide and body to make it easier.

Then you adjust the slides up to halfway throttle. Where you even out the slide position to match one another. Either there's a like line mark maybe cast into the body. Or there's a window on the carb body. And a white dot on the slide. With the white dot in the middle of the window. Then your slides are synced it's not done at full throttle.

That crack in the body could be bad in that it causes extra movement.  Fix it. I would probably use that aluminum epoxy putty stuff. You can kneed by hand.

Hey thanks for the reply

Thanks for the epoxy suggestion for the fix. I'll give a try with this set of carbs as I know the bike was running ok before I had the fuel blockage. I have a spare set  carbs I'll start prepping to have ready.

The throttle action was crappy I'm hoping if I make a repair as you suggested it may improve because the crack may allow movement.

Also where is the adjustment done for the slide issue...? It would be nice to know they are synchronised at wot and there is no restriction on that carb

Cheers Gerry

Like I said carb slide sync is done at half throttle. At full throttle it doesn't matter.

Fuel nozzle fell out whilst cleaning the carb. Which way does it go and is it pressed in or just sit there?
