Hi all, I've not yet run the bike, or been turning it over, however I've noticed the 2T oil is passing through the pump and up the feed pipes - Is this to be expected or am I in need of a replacement?

This is due to gravity and oil passing through the one-way valves in the output outlets...

I've designed oil petcock with switch to be placed on the hose between the oil tank and the oil pump.
The switch is ON  when oil petcock is closed and OFF when oil is opened.
The switch output is used in parallel of the Run/Stop switch on the handle bar.

Then bike wont start until oil petcock is fully opened.

My RD500LC engine was broken during a idle start after an very long period without running.
One cylinder has an hydraulic lockage due to 2 stroke oil pumped from the crankcase (which was full of oil).
Result => twisted crank => full rebuild.

With my petcock, no more heavy blue smoke after restarting the bike after some rest time.

Only the perfect blue smoke  :))

Thanks Olivier, I would be interested to learn more on your solution as this may be an option for me to adopt?

Internet searching has led me to the Yamaha check valve 6E9-13183-70-00 (at approx £35 each), which are for outboard motors I believe.

I'm not yet sure whether I'd need one unit to go in line before the oil pump, or two units (one for each line out of the oil pump), so if anyone has experience of these or alternatives, I'd be very keen to learn more!

Many thanks, Mark
