I imagine there are numerous Yamaha (and other) models that share the same or similar parts.

I recently discovered that the front foot-pegs of a 3XV are compatible with the SDR 200. The 3XV pegs are around 15 to 20mm shorter and attached to the hanger via a pin with a rivetted end whereas the SDR has a pin with a split-pin arrangement.

Fitting the SDR pegs could create a more substantial mount if you are blessed with large feet or just to use the bike whilst trying to source 3XV pegs?

Interestingly, the parts manual shows the pin is a serviceable/separate part. Has anyone managed to remove one at all, it doesn't look like the bolt is threaded or have an Allen bolt recess on the underside of the pin for disassembly?

I have. The end is flared to lock the pin in place.

I ground the end off and replaced the pin with a stainless button-head M8 bolt and locking washer.

Once removed, the original pin is not usable.

Excellent, much appreciated  (-P)

If preferred, the original pin is still listed as available.

It must have a different system to secure it, as the original has been flared with a special tool, most likely.

@thump566 Yep original rivets are still available. You need a special rivet tool though to mushroom the tip..
