2T Engineering rebuild and Road Tune

Got my engine back in the bike yesterday at 2T engineering after a full rebuild, how this came about is documented here;

A few things changed from the original plan, as the Meteor pistons were going to be out of stock for 6+ months I bit the bullet and went for Wossner forged ones (££££)

I also took a deep breath and got a new oil pump (Insurance Policy) and new inlet rubbers (as the old ones were a bit shit)

A "Road Tune" was needed as some "tuning" work had occured previously, luckily according to ANdy at 2T nothing too harmful and mostly he could clean up everything and do some mild work to get a good end result....

....And it was good, after a quick run-in on the dyno it immediately showed more power than ever before, a healthy 51BHP at the rear wheel (beating the previous best of 46) and it was around 10% up all the way through the rev range, fuelling was very safe, so much so a drop of main jet would probably give another BHP or maybe 2, and still be safe enough, but I'd rather keep it on the safe side of safe after this much money being thrown at it.

The ignitech also allowed fixing of the ~15% optimistic rev counter, not a huge deal, but I never liked seeing the bike running in the red even though I knew it was lying, it now reads a couple of hundred RPM high (instead of ~1500+ rpm high) at @10,000 and a couple of hundred RPM low @5000, so pretty damn accurate across the rev range.

I could get a few more BHP and another 500-1000rpm if I used the MJ77 Fast Road pipes, but I think having it come on pipe sooner with a decent mid range is a better option for my use - which is having a bike that looks, sounds and smells like a 2-stroke, has that wonderful 2-stroke delivery and can transport me 5-25 miles to a bike meet somewhere for a cuppa and tyre kicking session (I have a 160BHP KTM if I want to go faster)

Apart from internal work, the ignitech and the MJ77 pipes the only other change I have made is a GP1 radiator which has a slightly larger capacity and should help keep the motor a bit cooler, the race guys tend to run bigger rads of other bikes, but then you end up needing to chop bits out of the standard fairing.

Will report back after riding it, hopefully in the next few days.

You can get the gpi r1z 250 radiator to fit with minimal fuss.
It's much bigger than the 1kt radiator they sell. It's what was on it before.

No fairing mods needed.

First issue is the lower right rad mount. We just made a small bracket to connect it. Just put a bolt with nut on the end.

Second issue lower right spigot to water pump. It's in a different spot on the r1z rad. Fixed by using the r1z hose here. Goes right on.

Third issue head to upper spigot typical gpi rad quality here. The spigot from the rad curves down a little bit too much. The gpi r1z rad hose would kink pinched closed.

So we used this much thicker cv4 rad hose from his rvf400. That was a similar shape and it didn't kink.

My friend didn't want to at the time. Get the radiator spigot modded. It just needs to be angled up a lil bit.
