Registering a race bike

Hi everyone, great to see the forum still going!

I have a 1kt race bike that I want to get on the road. The chassis was never registered in the UK, I'm pretty confident it was raced since import.

I was told there's no chance to retrospectively register an old import on the nova system. So I bought another chassis recently imported that's on the NOVA system.

I'm about to strip everything off one chassis on to the other, but I'm here for one last plea.

This one has a lot of memories, scrutineering stickers, modifications (some intentional some not), and a championship 

Can anyone help me 'import' my one so I can leave it intact??

Try to persuade NOVA that it has been in the UK since before NOVA started, it sounds like you've got some of its history from racing and that might be adequate. I used an agent through the owners club to register a Vespa and I didn't have to give them any evidence.


If that fails see how much tax they'd want to charge you, to give you a Nova ref, it might not be much.

I've just registered a 3XV track bike.
I emailed them the frame number and asked if it was on the NOVA system. If it is then registering is straight forward.
Another bike wasn't on Nova, I explained on their form that I built a track bike from a frame and spares already owned by me for some time.
They just said it had been added to the system. No fees payed.
Then get a dating certificate, I used VJMC.
Get MOT against the chassis number.
Fill out the DVLA form, send the mot, dating cert, proof of identity and address plus a postal order. It costs £ 55 plus road tax.
The form looks complicated but ignore most of it.
