i bought some of these for the 3xv
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390498362509?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390498362509?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)
and could with some sort of idea how others bikes run who are using pod filters ?
ment to be better than k#n's as there is no metal cap end that can cause problems ! that have been mention'd before
any one using them then or has experience with them ?
i would not bother with them you will just get more noise no real performance gain plus they will need to be set up properly
i just got sum as want to run with martin 77 ported barrels n heads n dfr exhausts, seen them on old forum, carnt remember who posted it ,but they had used em on there 3xv with no probs?

Could have been me.
Works brilliantly on 3xv and Mc21. Did not work on Aprilia RS.
My 3xv has sugo carbs and a worked engine plus pipes to suit. It wouldn't run with unrestricted SP boxes and booties.
so they will work well on the 3xv !
it was one of the first things i got told about my rgv and aprilia is dont take off the airbox
i have never had a good word to say about pod filters but i have never tried them on a 3xv

i will try them then paul as they must be better than r model air boxes
just take it easy and go up on mains
Hey guys,
i have someone who can make pod filters any size and length for R225.00 each.
Let me know if anyone is interested and the size required.
Thanks
Ha, ha... the neverending box/pods discussion :)
I once was told while consulting with someone (I do that a lot ;D) on pods that, the bigger the better.
The scooter people while maybe on a "mine is bigger then yours basis" rather then true research have some impressive size podfilters.
Room for fitting may of course be a problem.

I want a dry clutch set on my 3XV :-[
So running premix huh? All you need to do is block off the pump area with a plate, and remove all the associated oil stuff?
Yup. All the heating hose are gone on my carbs.
Are that Jackal pipes? And do you run them with R barrels?
Juergen
They look just like my Jackal pipes, and I'm running mine on R barrels. I see a dry clutch on that motor, so at a minimum, that is an RS.

Yes it is a jackal or you call them SP tadao Jackals. Back in the days when i was illiterate on 3xv i bought it without knowing its for an R when i found it to late to ship it back to japan lol so i made it work to fit a in SP. I had my friend that works on machine shop made me a custom spacer .
Btw your bike is looking good jcs ;)

LOL!! I did the same thing - didn't know what I was buying. :o But I got lucky and my pipes and manifolds were made for R cylinders ;)

Thanks...I love my little mongrel. Note the missed matched body work in two different shades of white with the red striping on the seat panel in a different direction than the red striping on the side fairing! I don't care...eventually it will "look right", for now I just enjoy wringing it out, as it runs right! ;D
I still want a dry clutch ::) But I'll bet that's an expensive swap. I had to replace the dry clutch on my 91 NSR and that was around $500 USD! Salty!
Oh i know what you mean on the clutch. My clutch is already slipping and after looking at rsc it'll cost me almost the same price as yours .
So are there 2 different flanges for these pipes available?
I have the SP flanges:
(https://pure2strokespirit.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi643.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu160%2F41juergen%2FTZR%2520250%2520R%25203XV%2FTZR250JackalKrmmeranschlu04_zps98f40dc3.jpg&hash=220911bde907f69a2c3d40c17ccf2ffc68944035)
They are not round and will fit to the D shape of the SP outlets, correct?
If so, does anybody have some which are the round type to sell or to swap with mine SP flanges? Are there any pics how the R flanges look like?
Juergen
Actually 3 types r,sp and spr. I believed the spr has different shapetoo. If you were a year early i would have trade it to you with no hesitation. If you want to sell it i might be interested since the one i got is not perfectly fit.
r model dont have a flange they just bolt up to the barrel old style
well mine do anyway ,bottom pipe is std sp and has a spacer on it
top just bolts streight up to the barrel
Got a bit confused, does the R model have a flange (may be a bit different shape?) or not. For the pipes I have a least any flange is needed, no chance for "bolt on" to the barrel..
(https://pure2strokespirit.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi643.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu160%2F41juergen%2FTZR%2520250%2520R%25203XV%2FTempuLambdaSonden05_zpsf027d9d0.jpg&hash=42ef383bccc143ed3342dd7b1f482554160a0b1a)
But I found a pic which potentially shows the R model flange?
(https://pure2strokespirit.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi643.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu160%2F41juergen%2FTZR%2520250%2520R%25203XV%2FTZR250JackalKruumlmmeranschluszlig01_zpsa9dea2bb.jpg&hash=f4d39cd7f710e923216df0ca0bed9888d182ed3d)
Yes juergen they need a flange. Gary is talking about stock pipes not sp tadao jackals.
Dan
ok, got it. Thank's, so where is the guy who want to sell R flanges for the Jackals :-))))
heys guys, i have 2 sets of those pipes, are they any good?
I think so...I believe Martin77 models his 3XV pipes after them.

What pipes are they and who makes them??
That'll be me.... ;)
I don't come on here much, but I make 3XV pipes sometimes. The Jackals are good pipes, so rather than start costly development from scratch I used their dimensions as a start point for my own design. Not direct copies, as mine are hydroformed (much to the disgust of Lozza :P) but they work in a very similar fashion.
In fact I have some here in bits that just need welding up, though plans are afoot to borrow a chassis in the springtime and get some fully finished.
Anyway... I thought this thread was about pod filters :o

Martin did you do the pipes on the bike i have in the photos, the black one in the "projects" section under "wayne track bike SPR?"

No, they are pressed/coned pipes that look suspiciously like Jackals... (could be wrong)
