I would buy that. However for a rather large jigsaw with a couple of missing pieces its massively overpriced.
I agree I reckon about £1300 is about fair, even that's taking a change..

You're far more generous than me!

thinking about it, your more than likely right, if you wanted it painted proper its a £1000 plus whatever bits are missing, and a load of hours building, he would get more breaking it.. whats it worth finished? £3000 perhaps a bit more..

I will gladly take this 3XV cutaway as my christmas gift for the garage  ;D Looks like one they may have used in the brochures or at motorcycle shows back in the day?

Looks like an SP as well  :'( :'(

That could be VERY collectable. Too bad it doesn't come with any period memorabilia, such as photos of it on display, or correspondence about it (although it may be possible to track down such info). Also too bad that the internals have been allowed to go rusty - maybe it is time for a rebuild  ;D !

Surely the cutting away must have been done in the Yamaha factory  ?:-| ? I can't see any dealer going to that much trouble for a small display item. Whatever the case, there can't be too many of these cutaway engines around. I suppose anyone could make another one, but who is going to cut up SP parts these days??

I think that the starting price of 30,000JPY is very reasonable for what must be such a rare piece of Yamaha advertising history...although the rust does detract from it slightly.

James
