Hi,i been told my 3xv has the rear suspension upside down is this possible as its been done to the manual and i cannot see any difference, thanks

Mananon

I'm not entirely sure which bit you're talking about here. Surely not the shock? That's not possible to fit upside down, though maybe you could get it in back to front.
Have you had a look through the pictures in the workshop manual? You'd find them here http://pure2strokespirit.net/redandblueftp/download/3XV/index.php
You want section 5, page 54 onwards if you're looking at the 3XV1-2 manual.

I would think we're talking about the linkages since the shock clearly won't fit through the swingarm upside down.  Maybe the smaller one is flipped?  Either that or maybe the larger linkage is mounted on the wrong frame hole.

Really we need a picture because now it's just too curious to ignore.

That's the correct location for 3XV, the front set of holes.

whats the rear hole for & is the linkage the right way around, thanks

I had the same question, but I don't know.  :))  I just know it goes in the forward holes not the aft!

Oh and yes the linkages look the same way round as my bike, which I'm putting back together after taking out a stuffed rear shock

Might of been a design thing but if that hole was used the link would be shorter I would think. That would raise the bike a lot in the back with the same arm or link. If a shorter link was used it might act differently on the shock, or a different area of the travel, or spring for a differnt feel or setup.

I wonder if it is a mount point for construction/the factory?

Maybe the factory were still testing linkages / shock mounts / shock lengths and the two mounts gave them options further down the line rather than having to replace all the swinging arms ?  :-\

Well who will be the test pilot?

I think it's just a fixturing hole for when they weld up the frame.  My CBR500R has a similar welded mount and it also has two holes in the mount.

Not much support for being a suspension mount

Some form of paddock stand attachment?
