Hi,
Does anyone know what voltage I should be seeing from the CDI to the Tacho?
I stripped the bike down to the bare the frame to have a repair. I have just put it all back together and on start up to tacho is reading 5,000 rpm at tick-over.
I have checked the 12v at the supply side and the earth continuity check is good.
At tick-over there is 37 volts input from the CDI and at (approximately) 6,000 rpm there is 50 volts.
The tacho was working perfectly before this strip down.

Thanks,

Nick

Hot wire for the tachometer comes from the CDI and signal is + or - 200V pulses.

I could look at my pictures to confirm but :
 - early TZR250 1KT 2MA (as RZ350 + 500) are the same let say +pulses
 - later TZR250 2XT, 3MA, TDR250 and R1Z are the same let say -pulses

You can not test with a multimeter.
You need an oscilloscope to look at it.
