I've bought this recent Japanese import, originally thinking it was a 2XT. It turns out the frame is 2XT (No. 1KT-0958**) and so is the fuel tank. The motor is 1KT, the lower fairing panels are 2AW Marlboro (also the mirrors), the wheels are 2AW (presumably from the black & yellow bodywork version) and the rest of the plastic bodywork is of unknown origin (has custom-painted day-glow orange Marlboro scheme). The rear suspension also appears to be standard 1KT.
However, none of this really bothers me, as the bike is quite tidy and everything works (although the seat lock is a bit dodgy...). I'm not sure what those exhausts are, but they sound nice enough  ;D - not ridden it yet though.
I have a few small modifications planned, although nothing which will really alter the appearance. If I can find a decent set of lower fairing panels, I may decide to paint them to match the rest of the day-glow orange finish!

Brembo front caliper ?

Yes Brembo has made calipers to fit the 100mm mounting bracket for Japanese market bikes.
Maybe XJR400 from memory.

Two recent photos:





Since the previous photos were taken, I've converted to premix fuel (oil pump and tank removed) and replaced the vacuum-operated fuel tap with a "normal" on-off-reserve ZXR750 item. I also cleaned out and sealed the fuel tank, overhauled (and slightly modified) the carbs and replaced all the fuel lines. I've added a CHT & EGT gauge for each cylinder, to give more advance warning of impending doom  ::) (and help with carb jetting if necessary). I did a lot of small tidy-up jobs, replaced fasteners etc., but you can't see any of that in the photos.
Appearance-wise, I've made the fairing side panels a better match for the existing paintwork (fluorescent orange adhesive vinyl from Ebay seller). I added the "Quit" stickers because I like the colour scheme, but hate cigarettes  ;D !!

Nice bike, why did you remove the autolube? I know many does but I haven't heard of any problems with the autolube.

I'm at work on the phone so can really get a good view of your bike , very nice by the way , have you converted it to race shift , if so is it still the standard gear change and did you have to move the side stand to achieve this , is the side stand kill switch still connected

Sweet thanks for that info! Would you consider these to be better than blue/gold spot calipers?

Hmm even on yahoo auctions they go for 140~100 eur a pair, with shipping and tax the blue spot/gold spot calipers seem pretty economical at 35€ a piece....just that those brembo look very bling

I think blue/gold calipers are far better than the brembo made for Yamaha in the old days  ;)

Thanks. I haven't had trouble with Japanese two-stroke autolube systems in the past, BUT... I'm worried that an oil line will pop off, or something will get stuck in the oil pump or lines, or perhaps block the oil line from the oil tank, or the plastic pump drive gear will strip. These potential problems would be less worrying if the bike was new-ish, but it is now 25+ years old. I don't want to wait until the engine seizes to find out about these things! With premix; if the fuel gets through, so does the oil  ;).
