Fuel tap / petcock mod

I've been searching for a couple of days... but haven't been able to find the thread that describes how to turn the vacuum fuel tap into a non-vacuum ON/OFF petcock.

I modified mine, but then tested for reserve and the petcock just released all the fuel with nothing in reserve.
I flipped the outer ring with the fuel/ON/pri/reserve, still no luck with reserve.

Does anyone have the info or link for this mod?

Read that post - definitely an option. 
Third time with a leaky tap... last one was a new petcock from Yamaha.

Have a FZR750 tap and may just give that a go if the TZR tap keeps leaking.

PERFECT!!! excactly what I was looking for.
Just so I understand it ...

12 o'clock (directly up) = OFF
9 o'clock (left) = ON
3 o'clock (right) = reserve

Is that right?

I don't remember but I could check on my spare tap by blowing air in ...

Will check if I got some spare time as I preparing my track day next weekend...

i use an rgv250 vj21 and vj22 are the same
it gets rid of the prime just block it off on the carbs

teezer250, I got the just the fuel tap valve seal (http://yambits.co.uk/tzr250-fuel-tap-valve-seal-p-20889.html) since I needed some exhaust gaskets.  The whole refurb kit cost close to a whole new petcock from Yamaha Canada.  Seems to have stopped the leak for now.

I bought a new tap from Yamaha. Was not cheap but when I converted another bike I ran out of gas due to not having it in the correct position. This is not going to happen to me on this bike.

I don't trust vacuum petcocks in general is why, have seen too many fail. Mines working fine, i ultrasonically cleaned it and rebuilt it. still hate it.

I saw that. took me a while to find, we didnt have that exact model in the us.  but I can get one out of japan or canada apparently. thanks! looks like kawi number 51023 - 1320, got one coming from japan.
