Hi,

I just ordered a few OEM bolts for the engine cases and I was wondering what Yamaha coat the screws with?

They are a dakish/blackish in colour.

Hi The older bolts are covered with an "olive green"coating. The original process is enviromentally very bad and has been withdrawn and a new method introduced.

Therefore you may get new bolts from a yYamaha dealer that are a different colour to original. I know some of the concourse/rivett counters get upset about this and will search out old NOS stock to get the bolts "period correct".

You can get solutions to add in to get a close match when home electroplating similar to this: http://www.frost.co.uk/olive-drab-passivate-electroplating-solution.html. I'm not sure if the link is for a "Yamaha green" as I am not that OCD.
