Gday guys, long time no post.

The other day I removed my pipes to give them a wire brush and respray and whilst doing so I had a quick peak through the exhaust port to see how the new Wossners were doing. To my surprise I noticed quite a bit of streaking on the intake side of the barrel so I quickly removed the head to see how serious it was. It's very superficial l, I can't feel anything with my fingernail so that's a good sign however I'm still curious how this happens if anyone has seen it before. I've heard people mention wossners tend to do this but I've never seen it on any other engine I've built. Who knows  ?:-| not super stressed about it as the engine still running perfectly and like I said I can't actually feel anything like a ridge or scoring.

SouthCoastRich

That's were the ring gaps are if I'm not mistaken? My mk2 Wossners below - done about 800 miles on those (engine was sick at that time by the way)

I've heard forged pistons need to be warmed up differently to cast pistons.not sure why. Seen it on another furom. Message the guy to find out more info .

Apparently forged pistons expand faster an slightly more than cast pistons.

SeaR1ck

Yes is true forged pistons do expand differently than cast. Why they usually only come in one size for plated cylinders.
Why you should warm them up longer before you get heavy with the rpms.

What is the deal with aftermarket decals for the 3XV? Who is the go to guy for best accuracy decals? I tragically damaged one of my original fairings today and am struggling to move on with my life  ;D

I've decided I will try repair it and then get it painted and stickered. Unfortunately this means I need new decals.

Image works seems to be the most popular choice but does anyone have any actual photos of their/his kits installed on the bike? I've heard mixed reviews all over.

I've found this kit in Aus for $300 Aud but to me the YAMAHA font looks a bit different to original and the spacing looks way off too.

Any suggestions?

I've never come accross accurate replacement decals. They always have bad colours or bad fonts. Personally I prefer rough OEM panels over newly painted panels with replacment decals..

The red speed block decals can be selectively replaced if needed?

Did you see how nicely bulldogboy fixed his? http://pure2strokespirit.net/forums/index.php?topic=8200.msg80064#msg80064

My 3MA had lines on cylinders but was fine. Maybe just the way the plating wears in.

Worried about the like dark visible lines on the cylinder wall. Clean them off using a scotchbrite pad green colour. Match the cross hatching

Thanks Rick, however that doesn't help me understand why they are there in the first place. Cleaning them off is fine but they're only going to reappear as soon as the engine  is started. Anyway I've since had a chat to a few guys in the know and problem solved.

Does anyone know of a good rear brake line that actually fits a 3XV? I've heard from several owners that neither the HEL or WezMoto brake lines are anywhere near close to fitting front or rear brake.

WezMoto should be good now as I sent them a set of my own originals to pattern from late last year. The braided ones they sent me based on those were a nice fit, so they should have the design right now I hope.  (-P)

Awesome, thanks Warwick.

Still be worth confirming the measurements with them before ordering of course - 'belt and braces' and all that...  C:-)
