Hi
Im new to the forum so hello to everyone..........my question.....are the fixing  studs and mounting holes on 1 kt the same  distance apart as 2ma......thing is im restoring a 1 kt and removed the original white mirrors to replace with black ones...bought mirrors advertised as tzr250 ...but the mountings are miles out.....1 kt is about 36 mm between studs and my new mirrors are about 47 mm  bolt hole centres................so are 2ma and ikt front sub frames (head light /clock/mirror frames) differant........please help

Hi - the mirrors you bought are correct but Yamaha fitted an adapter plate which allows them to fit the sub frame holes.

The part number is 2MY-2629N-00.  There is also a foam "damper" which goes between this and the nose fairing.

Unfortunately I believe the plate is probably no longer available from Yamaha.

I had a similar issue when I bought my 2MA and ended up making my own adapter plates from alloy until eventually a pair of NOS plates turned up on Ebay.

However, I guess they are the sort of thing that racers (YPM) will ditch straightaway when prepping a bike, so chances are there are loads of used ones kicking around that someone can sell you.

If it helps I could post a picture (if I can work out how to do this...)

Cheers

Hi again Nigel

There are 2 threaded holes and one plain hole.  The front single plain one is common to both the frame and the mirror.  One threaded hole is a mount for the frame and the other threaded hole is a mount for the mirror.  Hopefully the photo explains better.  If you check out the parts manual for the model available on this site under "Resources" it shows the bolts, etc needed and how they fit into the mirror/bracket.

If you can hang on until tomorrow I can post photos of the set up on the bike.

I bought the mirrors in the above link and they are a direct bolt on to the 2MA and 1KT head lamp / fairing frame.
personally i think these look far better than the ones fitted to the 2MA.

Just in the final stages of making my plates....once spray should look good :D :D

Hi Nigel

No the holes are not countersunk as such - maybe a hint of a countersink might help locate the bolts?  It can be a bit of a job getting the bolts to screw in cleanly without risking cross-threading, especially if the plate is made from alloy.

Hope your diy plates turn out good!
